Stamp Everything. Lose Nothing.
When kids change clothes at daycare, school or after school practice, things get mixed up fast. A name stamp on the care tag or hem means teachers can identify your child's clothes in seconds. Several parents who use this stamp have mentioned their daycare teachers now actively look for it when sorting clothes. That kind of recognition adds up over a whole school year.
The stamp works on most cotton and elastane fabrics and holds up through regular washing. You can re-stamp any item if the print starts to fade, and one pad gives you around 1,000 prints before it needs replacing. It also works across siblings. When one child grows out of something, stamp the next child's name right underneath.
Before You Start Stamping
The ink is semi-permanent and designed to stay on fabric, so it's worth getting the technique right before you work through the whole pile.A few things to keep in mind:
- Always stamp on a hard, covered surface to avoid accidental ink transfer
- Test on paper first, then on the inside of a cuff or hem before stamping visible areas
- Apply even pressure without rocking the stamp side to side. This is what keeps the name clean and prevents the background from printing too heavily around the edges
- For thin fabrics, stamp the hemline to stop ink transferring through to the other side
- Wait at least 24 hours before washing or wearing to let the ink set properly
- The ink is black, so it will not show up clearly on very dark fabrics. For dark items, our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels or Iron On Labels are a better fit
- Wipe the stamp clean with a damp cloth or toothbrush after each use to avoid ink buildup. You can also run the stamp block through the dishwasher.
What Can I Stamp?
The stamp works best on smooth, tight-weave fabrics like cotton and elastane. Wool works well when the weave is tight and smooth. Avoid highly textured, shiny, glossy, or very thin fabrics without testing first.
Beyond clothing, the stamp also works on paper, cardboard, and most smooth absorbent materials like paper books or polyester backpacks. Always test on a hidden area before stamping anything visible.
Stamping Care Tags
Woven care tags work well with the stamp. If the care tag feels like plastic, the ink may not transfer or dry reliably, so test first and give it the full 24 hours to dry before washing.
What If the Ink Doesn't Dry?
If the ink stays wet, act quickly to avoid it transferring to other parts of the garment:
- Gently pat the inked area with a paper towel to lift the wet ink
- Wipe clean with a little soap and water, being careful not to spread ink onto other areas
- Dry the garment as per its care instructions

FAQ
How do I use the name stamp?
Press the stamp evenly onto the ink pad without applying too much pressure. Test on paper first, then on a hidden area of the garment. Place the item on a hard surface and press the stamp down evenly without rocking it side to side. Leave the ink to dry overnight before washing or wearing.
Is this a self-inking stamp? No. The stamp comes with a separate ink pad and stamp block. This gives you full control over how much ink you apply and how much pressure you use, which is what keeps the result clean and readable every time.
How do I get a clean stamp without the background printing around the name?Apply even pressure without pressing too hard, and avoid rocking the stamp side to side. Testing on paper first helps you find the right amount of ink and pressure before stamping visible areas of clothing.
How long does the stamp last on clothing?Up to 60 washes, depending on the fabric and how often the item is washed. If the print starts to fade, you can re-stamp the garment at any time.
How many prints does one stamp pad give?Around 1,000 prints, depending on how much ink you apply each time and how the pad is stored.
Is the ink safe for kids?Yes. The ink is non-toxic and child-safe. It washes off skin easily with warm soapy water. If your child has sensitive skin, do a small patch test before stamping their full wardrobe.
Does the stamp work on dark clothing? The black ink is most visible on lighter fabrics. For very dark items, our Wrap & Stick Clothing Labels or Iron On Labels are a better option. Can I stamp care tags?
In most cases, yes. Woven care tags work well. If the tag feels like plastic, the ink may not dry reliably, so test first and allow 24 hours drying time before washing.
Can the stamp be removed after it has been applied? The ink is semi-permanent and difficult to remove intentionally. It will fade gradually over many washes but is unlikely to disappear entirely.
Can I re-stamp clothing if the print fades?Yes. Simply stamp over the faded area again to refresh the print. This also works well for passing clothes down to a younger sibling.
Is the stamp washing machine and dryer safe?Yes. Follow the care instructions for the clothing item the stamp has been applied to.
Is the stamp dishwasher safe?Yes. Running the stamp block through the dishwasher is a great way to keep it clean. A toothbrush works well for removing any ink buildup around the edges.
How should I store the stamp when not in use?Keep it in a cool, dry place with the lid securely on. Storing the ink pad in a zip-lock bag helps extend the life of the ink between uses.
How do I keep the stamped print looking its best?Washing in cold water and avoiding high heat in the dryer will help extend the life of the print. Always follow the care instructions for the garment itself.
Can I iron over the stamp?Yes, once the ink is fully dry. Follow the care instructions for the garment and only iron if the fabric allows it.
